The effect stress has on our hormonal balance and overall health is profound. When in a stressful situation, aka “fight or flight” mode, the body releases a hormone I’m sure you’ve all heard about: cortisol. When under intense or prolonged stress our cortisol levels are elevated.

🎢 Disrupting our blood sugar (which we learned the importance of regulating in the first edition of this newsletter!)
❌ Shutting down our reproductive system (because conceiving would not be advantageous)
😩 Draining the body of essential vitamins and minerals and disrupting gut bacteria
Not to mention it slows our metabolism 🐌 in an effort to conserve energy (hence the weight gain or weight loss resistance)!
