Before all of you 20 and 30 somethings disregard this post thinking it’s not relevant for you, I urge you to pause! This post is meant exactly for you!
First things first: what is perimenopause?
Many of you may be familiar with the term “menopause” but not “perimenopause”. These terms are often used incorrectly. (It reminds me of the similar misusage of “vagina” and “vulva”.) As women, let’s take ownership of our heath and bodies by using the correct terms!
Menopause describes the point in a woman’s life when her periods have stopped entirely. Perimenopause is the (often several year) phase in a woman’s life before menopause occurs and during which time she will start to experience less frequent periods. Other well known symptoms include hot flashes, headaches, mood swings, etc.
These symptoms are the result of hormonal changes. The good news is that all the things (you’re hopefully already doing) to support your health and hormone balance during reproductive years will also benefit you during perimenopause . These include:
😋 Eat a diverse and primarily whole food diet
In addition to this healthy foundation there are a few things we should master in our 30s in order to set ourselves up for the best health later in life.

🍳 Increasing protein intake
🧘🏾♀️ Stress management
