We need to stop being so hard on ourselves! It’s completely contrary to our feminine nature to think we can be, feel and show up for ourselves and others in the same way every day. When in reproductive years a women’s hormones are operating on a roughly 28 day cycle. Throughout the month fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone affect our mood. Understanding this cycle, and organizing our schedule accordingly, can greatly improve our quality of life.
You don’t need all kinds of apps, gadgets, and reminders to help you figure out how to best utilize your time. I am in awe of how nature has already provided us with this divine insight! Simply tune into your body and (to the extent that you’re able) plan your life accordingly.

The basics:
🩸Menstruation is the first phase of your cycle and begins the day you bleed.
🏃🏾♀️➡️The follicular phase is the week or so after you bleed and until you ovulate.
🥚The ovulatory phase, occurring mid-cycle, includes the day your ovary releases an egg and when you’re fertile.
🤓The luteal phase lasts from about day 15 - 28 and is the last phase of your cycle.
Aligning your work & social life with your cycle!
Here’s how:
During menstruation you may feel more tired and introverted. Honor this by carving out me time and committing to less. Say no!🙅🏻♀️ This is also a good time to reflect on relationships and work.🤔
When in the follicular phase you’ll likely be feeling more energized. Use this time to set intentions, take initiative, and begin new projects.🏃🏾♀️➡️
When in the ovulatory phase you’ll probably be feeling your best! This is a wonderful time to schedule presentations and important work meetings as well as engage with more people and activities. 🙋♀️
In the beginning of your luteal phase you’ll likely be very on! This is a great time to look at details and accomplish projects you began during the follicular phase. Before menstruation, begin to slow down and carve out time for yourself. 👩🏾💻
I like to have each of these phases color coded in my calendar. There are also plenty of apps you can use to track your period and see which phase you’re in. Regardless of your approach I encourage you to tune into your body and intuitively sense where you are and what you need.
What’s one small change you could make this month in your schedule to support your natural rhythm? I’d love to hear in the comments or via DM!
Warm regards,
Donelle
