Sunlight and Your Hormones: A Vital Daily Boost ☀️
I’m very happy to be back with the second guest post within the moreyou newsletter! With days in the Northern Hemisphere getting darker and darker it felt apt to expand upon last week’s newsletter about vitamin D. To do that I asked the supremely insightful health coach behind SolSync, Veronique, to shed some light 😉 on the topic.
Sunlight and Your Hormones: A Vital Daily Boost
Just like nutritious food fuels my body, sunlight is a daily “reset” for my body’s internal clock that keeps my hormones in balance. It’s something I make sure to prioritise first thing in the morning because it impacts how I feel and function!
Over time, I’ve learned how essential sunlight exposure is for optimal health and setting our body’s natural rhythm. This rhythm, known as our circadian clock, regulates a lot of things, - including our hormones - impacting everything from energy levels to sleep and appetite.
The Benefits of Sunlight
Just 10–15 minutes in morning daylight (even on cloudy days) can go a long way in helping our bodies produce the right hormones at the right time.
Here are just a few examples:
☀️Boosted Energy (Thyroid Support): Sunlight supports thyroid hormone production, which powers metabolism and helps you feel energized throughout the day.
🍽️Balanced Appetite (Leptin & Ghrelin): Sunlight helps regulate these “hunger hormones,” which means you are less likely to feel random cravings or overeat + it enables fat loss.
🍭Steady Blood Sugar (Insulin): Regular light exposure helps keep insulin levels stable, which is key for steady energy and blood sugar balance.
Starting your day with natural daylight makes such a difference - it’s like a gentle switch that wakes your body up and keeps things balanced. It’s a small ritual, but it goes a long way toward keeping you feeling your best!
